This awesome Mixed Media Painting is a celebration of Rockhounding and Mineral Collecting! It features an acrylic painting of Work Boots, a Quartz Crystal, and a Hammer and Chisel on an abstract background. To further express my love for Rocks I sculpted a Crackle Paste Frame made to look like Stone with green moss and orange iron oxides. This Geology Artwork is even more special because I've adhered REAL Mineral Specimens that I collected myself right here in Ontario, Canada to the canvas. These Minerals include Feldspar, Apatite, Purple Fluorite, Amazonite, Green Apatite, Sodalite, Red Apatite, Smoky Quartz, Diopside, Purple Pinite, Peristerite Moonstone, Calcite, Mica, and many others!

After my parents and I explored this RARE Occurrence of Purple Pinite, locally called Wilsonite, I became incredibly inspired by this unique bright Purple Mineral. I felt such a deep connection to it that I knew I had to make an artwork that incorporated real Rock Samples. My father helped me make small enough pieces and soon I would adhere them to my gorgeous Figurative Witch Portrait. It was the Halloween season and I consider myself a Crystal Witch so I felt very connected to the subject. The main Mineral is Purple Pinite var. Wilsonite, but this unique Mixed Media Artwork also includes REAL Chains, Clear Quartz, Smoky Quartz, Pink Calcite, Black Biotite Mica, and RARE FluoroRichterite Crystals.

This was the most time consuming and detailed Mixed Media Artwork I have ever created. The beautiful Gold Portrait was purposely made ambiguous in order to allow her to represent all of us. And the multicoloured variety of Spirographs filled with REAL Gems and Buttons; overwhelming, intricate, cluttered, yet beautiful, represents the many thoughts that fill our minds day to day. While this can sometimes be a burden it can also be a gift. I personally have so many interests, thoughts, passions, things I'd like to do ... it's all encompassing but it's also what makes me "me". I happen to think it's a beautiful thing and that's why I dedicated one of my most lovely artworks to the idea. While the Spirographs are gorgeous and unique, the embellishments make the Artwork truly stand out. They include REAL Crystals I pulled from the Earth, Vintage Buttons I’ve collected for years, Acrylic Gems, Pearls, and Gold and Bronze pieces.
