Mixed Media on Canvas
(Acrylic and Oil Paint)
12" x 12"
When you create portraits for a living you often get asked, “Is this you?” My answer was always “no”. It wasn’t that I felt I wasn’t beautiful, it was simply that I didn’t find my face as interesting to capture since I see it everyday! I created this portrait because I wanted to show my audience that I am confident in my own unique beauty in hopes of encouraging all women to feel the same. We are all unique beings and that makes us all beautiful!

COMMISSION
This custom portrait was commissioned in order to celebrate the intricate and glamorous beauty of Indian Brides. The large scale painting is covered in acrylic gems and gold mica adding extra luxury to the piece. The client requested soft closed eyes and that the woman resemble his beautiful wife Preeti. In order to achieve this a study was done of her nose and mouth and incorporated into the portrait. The eyes were given added emphasis with contrasting light and dark metallic makeup and long lashes. This epic artwork undoubtedly portrays brilliant beauty.

Big Bright Beach Beauty

Watercolour Paint
and Pencil on Paper
1.75" x 8.25"
I had been working with watercolour paper a lot and initially I had thrown out this little piece as a clipping. But then the thought occurred that this size might be beautiful for a tiny figurative piece. With summer in full force I thought it would be wonderful to depict a larger woman wearing a bright bikini and sporting bright purple hair. She's not afraid to be seen. She isn't insecure about her beautiful voluptuous body, now should she be! I'm hoping this little piece will inspire other full figured women to be brave and enjoy the summer regardless of the ridiculous societal standard that only thin women should wear a bikini.

COMMISSION
This beautiful black and white oil portrait painting was created as a custom work for a client and represents his stunning special friend, Pascale. Her unique beauty kept me passionate about the project throughout its creation. Her deep dark eyes and full lips allude to her beautiful character. From what I've heard from my client, her inner beauty, seen in her personality and love, is equal to that of her beautiful exterior.

Acrylic Paint and
Gems on Canvas
16" x 20"
This acrylic painting of a beautiful Indian Bride was created as a study for a large scale commission. The artist was intending to test the blending limits of acrylic paint as well as test the process of adhering acrylic gems to a painting. In order to make the piece unique the artist added a pop of colour by pulling the gold and mauve colours from the background into the stones in the jewelry. The artist hopes the piece gives the viewer a sense of calm and elegant beauty.

Inner Goddess Of Burlesque Beauty
April 2014
Oil Paint on Canvas
24" x 30"
COMMISSION
I am one lucky artist! I truly have the best fans and supporters out there. One such fan discovered my work through Etsy and, liking what he saw, decided to offer me a commission I will never forget! He was fond of 1930-40's Pin-Up art as well as the burlesque style and asked if I could combine these ideas into a representation of his beautiful wife. He said he wanted her to look at it and "see her as her inner burlesque queen". I truly believe this project was destined for me. I was made to create it. Not only was it a piece that featured a naturally beautiful woman but one that would celebrate her beauty and make her feel special. How many husbands are this adoring? I was touched.
My lovely patron sent me many photos of his beautiful wife so that I could gain an understanding of her facial features and shape. Using a variety of resources I created this luxurious composition. He absolutely loved it and we decided it would look amazing in a sepia palette. I'm so thrilled with the results!

Mykonos Sunset
April 2014
Mixed Media on Canvas
(Watercolour, Chalk Pastel,
Coloured Pencils, Charcoal)
8" x 10"
This mixed media artwork was inspired by a Mykonos sunset the artist and her fiance watched while visiting the Greek Islands. They had witnessed the famous Oia sunset the night before, and found it was amazing, but this one felt more romantic and the colours were moving. The artist hopes that her piece gives the viewers a sense of calm and comfort and that the beauty of the Greek Islands shines through the depiction.

Blue Pop Marilyn - Mini
March 2014
Acrylic Paint on Canvas
8" x 10"
COMMISSION
I'm very excited to have had the opportunity to complete my series "Vintage Pop Beauties" for a very special and extra supportive fan. Prior to the end of my latest Facebook Contest Hope Toivonen purchased my mini painting "Yellow Pop Audrey". When Hope did not win the contest, and therefore would not be able to complete the series, I thought it would be nice to create a new mini pop piece of Marilyn Monroe to go with the other two mini artworks. I chose a classic Marilyn pose with pouted lips and sexy squinted eyes. I'm quite pleased with the results and I hope you are too!

#TheMalalaEffect
This beautiful portrait painting was requested by Plan Canada's 'Because I Am A Girl' campaign to be exhibited in their "The Malala Effect" exhibition.
'Because I Am A Girl' is a global project to end gender inequality, promote girl' rights, and lift millions of girls - and everyone around them - out of poverty. As the majority of my artwork focuses on female inner beauty and strength, I felt very connected to the project.
As part of the campaign Plan Canada will be launching a new book entitled "Everyday is Malala Day". The book is inspired by Malala Yousafzai who is a young Pakistani girl that was shot in 2012 by the Taliban for openly fighting for girls' rights to education. Thankfully she survived the terrible incident and has since been a symbol to girls all over the world who believe in the power of being educated.
To celebrate the book launch, as well as National Women's Day, Plan Canada has decided to hold an art exhibition, "The Malala Effect", that is inspired by the book and Malala's strength. I was one of 24 artists to be chosen to create a piece inspired by one of the pages of the book. Once the exhibition is complete the painting will be donated to a school in order to inspire students to engage in their education.
I chose to depict Malala's message with two young girls from different cultural backgrounds. Though they come from different countries they are connected by Malala's strength which is represented in their braided hair. Because of Malala, girls from around the world are inspired to have the strength to speak up for themselves and fight for equal rights and opportunities.

Vintage Pop Beauties
January 2014
Acrylic Paint
on Canvas
18" x 24"
8" x 10"/minis
The pop art movement has always been one of my favourite era's to study and continues to inspire me. This series was created using acrylic paint in a bright colour and contrasting black giving it a "pop" style. To further the concept of "pop" art I chose to depict the popular vintage beauties Marilyn Monroe, Bettie Page, and Audrey Hepburn. I felt the blue background mirrored Marilyn's sultry beauty, the red background corresponds with Bettie's wild and sexy character, while the yellow background emphasizes Audrey's sweet and soft nature. I hope these artworks exude beauty and fun.

This custom mixed media eye painting was commissioned by Stacey Kerr. She wanted me to portray her beautiful little girl Phoebe's incredibly blue eyes. As babies tend to have smoother rounder features I used shadow to create depth; giving the piece a realistic look. I hope the painting brings happiness to Stacey's home.
